This beautiful circuit takes you along the Auray River to one of the commune's outstanding sites. Departure point: Place Le Mené, opposite the town hall.
Step by step :
1) Join the D28 at the traffic lights, and take the old route du Fort Espagnol, which starts behind the bus shelters. Follow the route de Fort Espagnol, past the campsites to the entrance to the Roman road, before the Kerourio village junction. Follow the Roman road for 250 m, then head for Kergaldan.
2) Cross the VC201 to reach Kercado. Take the VC5 to Fort Espagnol through the village of Kercado. Go as far as Fort Espagnol, which offers a fine view over the Golfe du Morbihan. Formerly Fort Sainte-Marie, this small port on the Rivière d'Auray became "Fort Espagnol" following the Spanish occupation that lasted 8 years, from 1590 to 1598.
3) Returning to the village, a visit to Loqueltas, upstream from Fort Espagnol, is a must. Turn right after the village of Kercado to reach Loqueltas. On the road, don't miss the Kerherneigan calvary, about 200 m along on the left.
4) Drive down to the Auray River, on the Loqueltas platform, where several oyster-farming sites were active a few years ago.
5) Take the same route back via the wooden bridge at Kercado, Kergaldan (be careful crossing the road) and join the Roman road, turn right towards Kerfacile and then Kermarquer.
6) At Kermarquer, to return safely to the village center, take the bicycle path along the RD28 to the Petit Cosquer traffic circle (use the sidewalk at the traffic circle) and climb up to the village of Petit Cosquer. Take the path to the village center via the Tourbillon.
