Les Ateliers du Mot: "Iroise" comic book exhibition

Exhibition of originals of Iroise, a comic strip by Hugues Mahoas. Exhibition open to the public during opening hours of the Le Chat Pitre media library.

After studying applied arts at the Duperré school, then cartooning at the Gobelins school, Moël-based artist Hugues Mahoas worked for 25 years in the cartoon field (La Famille Pirate, Les Zinzins de l'Espace...).

For the past 7 years, he has devoted himself mainly to painting, but also to writing, more specifically the Ar Bed All series of fantasy novels.

The comic strip Iroise had been on Hugues' mind for almost 15 years, and was finally painted in one go, 4 years ago.
It introduces us to Iroise, a little girl whose ritual is to ricochet with her father before he goes out to sea. It's their little moment of shared happiness. But one stormy day, he doesn't come back. She doesn't want to give up hope, and keeps the stone preciously... A few years later, she sets off in search of it.

Like all books without text, this moving comic leaves the reader's imagination and interpretation free to express their emotions. This colorful exhibition is sure to delight young and old alike.
