As part of the Méliscènes 2025 Festival

Following on from Tria Fata and Poli dégaine (both staged at the 2017 Méliscènes Festival), La Pendue returns with an original adaptation of the medieval tale La Manékine, put into form by the Grimm brothers under the title La Jeune Fille sans mains.

La Manékine tells the story of a young girl whose hands are cut off to satisfy the devil, thus depriving her of the freedom to act on her own. The heroine then embarks on a journey of initiation, a quest for her own freedom. A feminine initiation that's both luminous and bloody, performed by a one-man band and a puppeteer who assumes a beautiful paradox: becoming the hands of the "handless" to replay eternal themes.

Beyond the show itself, it's a fable of yesterday to evoke the women of today! A puppet show, poetic and terribly topical, carried away by the company's magic and universe.
