Route n°3 bleu - From the Atlantic coast to the Erdeven forest, from the dunes to the park of Château de Keravéon and the Varquez megalithic site, this route has been designed to allow you to appreciate the diversity of Erdeven's landscapes and rich heritage.
Departure: This trail starts from the parking lot at the complexe sportif du grand large, rue du Grand Large, Erdeven.
Step by step:
1) Follow the signposts, the first few kilometers will take you to the coast at the Roche Sèche site. Follow the dunes to reach the Barre d'Etel. Observe the remains of the Atlantic Wall dating from the Second World War: in addition to the bunkers, winter storms regularly uncover other defensive elements previously buried under the sand (Belgian door, tetrahedron, piece of rail...).
2) Follow the Erdeven paths and tracks back through the forest to the village.
3) After crossing the northern part of the town, join the park and château de Keravéon. The park boasts a botanical trail with over 50 listed tree species. The château is an imposing seigneurial residence protected by a triple enclosure: the courtyard of the dwelling, the outbuildings and the enclosure, with a majestic gateway to the south. Its creation dates back to the 14th century, when the estate was made a seigneury by the de Talhouët family (owners until 1761).
4) After Keravéon, drive through the Erdeven forest to the Varquez wood and pond. Take the time to visit the Dolmens de Mané Braz ("the big hill" in Breton), a site featuring 4 different corridor tombs (single chamber, side-cell chamber and compartmentalized chamber) certainly built at different periods of the Neolithic, the most recent being the compartmentalized chamber (-3,500 B.C.), the Dolmen de Mané Croh, or the Alignments de Coët er Blei (or "Caesar's Chair"). Please note that these megalithic sites are only accessible to pedestrians.
5) Reach the village of Crucuno with its Dolmen, one of the most imposing in Morbihan, stripped of its tumulus and access corridor once described by W. Lukis (1864) as 27 m long and still visible on early 19th-century engravings. Today, only the burial chamber remains under an imposing cover slab weighing over 30 tons. See also the Quadrilatère de Crucuno, a megalithic enclosure now comprising 22 menhirs, two of them recumbent, measuring 34 m by 26 m. Head back towards Plouharnel and pass the Chapelle Saint-Antoine (18th century). The side statues are those of Saint Antoine and Saint Eloi, invoked to protect cattle and horses.
6) Return to the starting point via the V5 and Erdeven paths. There are 3 other circuits starting from Erdeven.
