Locoal-Mendon pottery
I've been a professional ceramist and potter since 1974. First in England, where I made glazed earthenware, and then in Brittany since 1980. With this change of country, culture and studio, I specialized in the salt stoneware technique, a unique process in which my pieces are glazed during firing. I use several types of clay, light or dark, but always refractory. The long firing takes place in a large wood-fired kiln.
My pieces are either sculpted or turned. After turning, the pieces are deliberately deformed or assembled differently, giving them movement and a touch of humor. I like to play with the natural color of salt stoneware, then it's up to fire and flame to leave their mark.
