Cinema: 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Étel
On the night of December 7 to 8, 1944, Allied forces took the Etel command post, established in the present-day campsite, liberated the town and began the reconquest of the Lorient pocket. In commemoration of this date, and as part of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Poche de Lorient, the Commune d'Etel and the Quai des Dunes association are offering an evening including :
- screening of the documentary film Etel 7 mai 1945 Passage vers la liberté by Jean-François Pahun, in his presence and with his presentation;
- screening of Lee Miller by Ellen Kuras: a biopic about an American war photographer, played by Kate Winslet, who covered the major events at the end of the Second World War, particularly in Normandy and Brittany.
