Representation for better understanding" conference
Representing for a better understanding, or three-dimensional representations to rediscover Neolithic architecture on the banks of the Mor Bihan - The examples of the Gavrinis corridor tomb (Larmor-Baden) and the Kerguéarec wood (Carnac).
Neolithic architecture on the banks of the Mor Bihan has been explored for almost two centuries, with varying degrees of activity. We might be entitled to think that everything has been seen, and that the monuments now hold few secrets". And yet, in view of what three-dimensional representation tools allow us to envisage today, much remains to be discovered!
The Gavrinis corridor tomb was digitized in 2011. This is the act that launched the research program to decipher the engraved signs, led by S. Cassen. In parallel with this objective, the architecture of the monument was studied. The archives produced since the discovery of the site, and especially during the excavation campaigns directed by C.-T. Le Roux, compared with the actual remains, enable us to distinguish several construction phases.
For the Neolithic community, architecture was built into the landscape according to very precise rules. But the landscape has evolved enormously over the 5 to 7 millennia that separate us from them, and the logic has been lost. But here again, today's technologies enable us to acquire vast quantities of information which, once analyzed, provide a better understanding of the underlying logics. The preserved Bois de Kerguéarec area in Carnac will serve to illustrate this point.
