Choreographer Gilles Verièpe takes on the masterpiece of classical music: Maurice Ravel's Boléro. Beyond its relentless, hypnotic rhythm, it is the joy of the work that the artist wishes to share. Faced with the repetitive rigor of the musical rhythm, he composes a playful choreography full of surprises, made up of movements and ruptures.
With a light touch, Gilles Verièpe explores the liberating, spontaneous gestures of children's games, sharing all the playfulness of this piece. He mixes dance genres (court, folk, expressionist, pop and even butô...) and draws on everyday gestures. The duet he composes with Yulia Zhabina takes us by surprise, playing with melody, tempo and even dance! This Boléro returns to the very essence of dance: the joy of movement!
