Painting exhibition "Les Maitres de Concarneau" (The Masters of Concarneau)
In the wake of the impressive success of the retrospective exhibition "Les Peintres Officiels de la Marine" in early 2023 and the exhibition "Les Maitres de Concarneau" in early 2024, the association is doing it again.
To open the 2025 campaign, an Official Painter of the Navy, Jean Le Merdy, is in the spotlight.
An exceptional selection of some fifty paintings from private collections graces the walls of the Musée des Thoniers. A great name from the Concarneau School, or rather Group, sublimates the first exhibition of the 2025 season.
Concarneau-born Jean Le Merdy has developed a substantial body of work, inspired by the sea, coastal landscapes, whether peaceful or storm-tossed, harbor atmospheres, shipyards...
His escapes to the countryside capture domestic objects, everyday tools, the interiors of cowsheds, mills, friends' houses and abandoned farm machinery.
Rare works by this great artist are here revealed to the general public.
The museum is open every afternoon (except Monday) from 2pm to 6pm.
