Geoffroy Tamisier & Isabel Julve
Concert - jazz and flamenco
Literally "woman with a shawl" in Spanish, this creation is a nod to Lady in Satin, Billie Holiday's last album, to whom trumpeter Geoffroy Tamisier wanted to pay tribute, by teaming up with "Cantaora" Isabel Julve, a renowned flamenco singer and dancer.
For this original creation, Geoffrey Tamisier asked Isabel Julve to blend the two cultures. The songs chosen for this evening are translated into Spanish. The rhythm used in jazz is replaced by that of the Iberian peninsula: guitar, cajon and palmas. Flamenco dancing with "zapateados" (foot stamping) adds to the perceptible tension of the voice.
With Isabel Julve and Geoffroy Tamisier, 18 musicians (harp, strings and winds) with classical, jazz and flamenco influences join forces on stage for a magnificent tribute to Billie Holiday.
