Chouannerie Museum

Bois du Bégo
56340 Plouharnel
The Musée des Guerres de l'Ouest, located at the entrance to the Presqu'ile de Quiberon, in an Atlantic Wall bunker, is the only museum in France to retrace the history of the Chouannerie and Vendée Wars from 1793 to 1832.
It stands on the very site of the Republican defensive line during the 1795 Battle of Quiberon, which pitted troops of Chouans and émigrés against the Republican armies of General Hoche.
The museum exhibits some 400 items (maps, engravings, weapons, documents, etc.), some of them exceptional, such as the only portrait ever made of Georges Cadoudal, or the rosary that belonged to Queen Marie Antoinette in the Temple.

Length of visit: 1 hour. Guided tours available on reservation for groups of 10 or more.
