Thoniers Museum
An emblematic fishing port from 1850 to 1960, Etel owes its fame to its fishermen, who braved the ocean to hunt down sardines, tuna and other noble species. Today, these valiant men of the sea have their own sanctuary: the Musée des Thoniers.
Picturesque and authentic, the museum tells the moving story of these seafaring men. An associative cultural site promoting the region's maritime heritage.
As you wander between the models, marine objects and period reconstructions, you'll discover the life of the port and its sailors, fishing activities and sea rescue, as well as canneries, shipbuilding and the life of the hinterland, with windmills, tide mills and the little coastal train...
Like the Ria d'Etel itself, this museum of character is a source of inspiration for the many artists who exhibit here. At the crossroads of different regions, it's also a good starting point for discovering other remarkable sites in the area (Etel bar, St Cado island, Auray, Carnac-Quiberon or Lorient).
+ discover the museum with a guided tour, every Tuesday at 3pm (from July 9), booking through the museum.
+ discover a range of games for children aged 4 and over.
From September 16 to November 3: Tuesday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm. (open in the morning for groups).
